New York, Paris, and Milan may be the style capitals of the world, but London, being politely English packs a mean style punch – it just has the gentlemanly reserve to do so more quietly. Icons of British design include lofty names like Aston Martin, Alexander McQueen, and, of course, Paul Smith.
I love me a good Paul Smith stripe. While he does cater to the gentler sex too, his men’s design is the real star of his work. The high tops shown here showcase his characteristic stripes – on a streamlined sneaker that looks like it’s about to take flight. I really like the toe on these too. I’m not usually a fan of sharp-toed sneakers, but these manage to flaunt a distinctive shape while still being blunt enough to capture my very picky tastes. Bloody good design.
